With its 508,186 hectares, the Ta\u00ef National Park is the second-largest primary forest in Africa.<\/p>

Listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1982 as a biosphere reserve, it has 140 species of mammals including 12 endemics, 240 species of birds and many species of insects, reptiles and amphibians, rare birds such as chimpanzees accustomed to human presence, pygmy hippos, elephants, red colobus monkeys, forest buffaloes, etc.<\/p>

The Ta\u00ef National Park lets you observe 1800 plant species, including 138 endemics, and navigable bodies of water.<\/p>

The relaxing and comfortable atmosphere of the Ecotel Touraco, a hotel complex comprising ten (10) bungalows with guides located in the heart of the Park near Mount Ni\u00e9nonkou\u00e9, allows tourists to live to the rhythm of nature and to observe the fauna and flora of this exceptional site up close.<\/p>

HOW TO COME TO THE PARK?<\/span><\/strong><\/p>

The tourist area of \u200b\u200bthe park is located in the Sector of Djouroutou. It is reached by passing through the village of Djouroutou from which it is 7 km away. The village itself is located at the extreme west of the park, at a distance of 213 km from the town of San-Pedro, or about 5 hours of travel on asphalt and rural tracks.<\/p>

Djouroutou is an agricultural community of more than 71,000 souls with an urban health center and a public school. It is possible for a helicopter to land in the village. San-P\u00e9dro is a port city served by air from the city of Abidjan (every day of the week). It is 380 km from Abidjan by the coastal road (very impractical at the moment). We recommend visitors to go through the town of Guiglo located north of the park.<\/p>

A second tourist area is located in the town of Ta\u00ef, 80km south of Guiglo; west of TNP. To get there, take the Daloa road and go through Duekou\u00e9 to arrive at Guiglo, and then take the track that runs along the park to arrive at the town of Ta\u00ef, this same track leads to Djouroutou.<\/p>

Airstrips are available at Daloa, Guiglo, and Zagn\u00e9 (40 km from Ta\u00ef). the town of Man, which is located 120 km from Guiglo, is served by air twice a week (Thursday and Sunday).<\/p>

Public transport exists between Guiglo-Ta\u00ef-Djouroutou and between San Pedro – Tabou – Djouroutou. However, we do not recommend them to visitors. The transportation time will be longer, and the transportation conditions are harsh.<\/p>

DAY 1: Commune of Ta\u00ef<\/span><\/strong><\/p>

Arrive in Ta\u00ef at the end of the afternoon (take the very early departure from your city; for example, Abidjan). Reception on your arrival by a person in charge of the stay. Dinner and overnight in Tai.<\/p>

DAY 2: Ecomuseum and Ta\u00ef National Park<\/span><\/strong><\/p>

After breakfast, visit the ecomuseum dedicated to the Ta\u00ef National Park and 35 years of scientific research on chimpanzees. Then head to the entrance to the park where a 2.5-hour walk will take you to the camp in the heart of the forest.<\/p>

The afternoon will be devoted to the observation of habituated red colobus monkeys and the discovery of the primary forest.<\/p>

DAY 3: Tai National Park<\/span><\/strong><\/p>

Observation of habituated mangabey monkeys in their natural environment and discovery of the tropical forest through an ethnobotanical circuit with learning to use the compass and GPS.<\/p>

Then last night at the camp.<\/p>

DAY 4: Village of Goul\u00e9ako<\/span><\/strong><\/p>

Departure from the camp in the morning for the city of Ta\u00ef in order to have lunch in the village of Goul\u00e9ako. The afternoon will allow the visit of the said village 10 minutes from the city of Ta\u00ef to discover, among other things, the Oubi culture through the history of the village and the traditional evening taking place at the end of the day. The traditional canoe ride on the Cavally River is possible but only in the dry season. Accommodation will be in one of the comfortably furnished traditional huts of the village.<\/p>

Transport: by 4×4 vehicle from the park entrance to the village of Goul\u00e9ako 1<\/p>

Meals: Breakfast at the camp; lunch and dinner at Goul\u00e9ako 1<\/p>

DAY 5: Village of Djouroutou and Ta\u00ef National Park<\/span><\/strong><\/p>

After breakfast, departure for the village of Djouroutou. Arrive at the end of the morning at the Ecotel Touraco on the edge of the park for lunch. The entry into the forest is done at the beginning of the afternoon. After 1h30 of walking, arrive at the chimpanzee camp for a saving shower and the discovery of the place.<\/p>

DAY 6: Tai National Park<\/span><\/strong><\/p>

Depart early in the morning for the observation of chimpanzees. Then hike to Mount Ni\u00e9nokou\u00e9, the sacred mountain of the Kroumen ethnic group, for a breathtaking view of the park.<\/p>

Leaving the park at the end of the day to spend the last evening at the Ecotel Touraco. Meals: Breakfast at the camp \u2013 picnic \u2013 dinner at the Ecotel<\/p>

DAY 7: Departure from Djouroutou<\/span><\/strong><\/p>

Located on the edge of the Ta\u00ef National Park, the Ecotel Touraco is a magnificent complex of 10 bungalows that can accommodate 20 visitors at a time. This site, which combines tradition and modernity, is fully illuminated with energy.<\/p>

\u200b<\/span><\/span>PRACTICAL TIPS FOR TRAVELERS<\/span><\/strong><\/p>

The most appropriate clothing for your stay in the rainforest is lightweight cotton or polyester clothing that dries quickly.<\/p>

From December to January, you will encounter dry winds and cooler temperatures at night and early in the morning, hence the usefulness of having a long-sleeved garment, if you fear the cold.<\/p>

As far as colors are concerned, your clothes must be dark in color symbolizing nature (green, brown, black). The color red is prohibited in the forest.<\/p>
